02/16/2018 (Uganda) - According to local media reports on Friday, 16 February, two police officers have been fatally shot by unknown assailants in Kawempe Division, Kampala. The officers were reportedly attacked while on patrol on Thursday evening and their weapons were stolen. This is the second incident of this nature in the division in recent months.
Clients in Kampala are advised to exercise a heightened level of vigilance given the threat from criminal activity and immediately report any suspicious activity to police. Travellers should maintain a low profile, minimising displays of relative wealth, and avoiding movements during night-time hours. Travellers should also be mindful of ongoing security operations following the attack and heed any directives issued by authorities.
