Tropical Cyclone Gita Expected to Cause Disruption on Friday, 16 February

02/15/2018 (New Caledonia) - According to reports from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), Tropical Cyclone Gita is expected to make landfall on Friday, 16 February. The cyclone has caused significant damage and disruption to Tonga and is expected to cause hazardous sea and weather conditions to southern parts of the islands.
Personnel within New Caledonia are advised to closely monitor weather-related developments and familiarise themselves with emergency protocols whilst remaining alert to any directives issued by authorities. Clients are further advised to ensure that they have a secure location in which to shelter if instructed to do so and that they have access to adequate supplies of food and clean water.
