02/15/2018 (Argentina) - According to emerging social media feeds on Thursday, 15 February, anarchist and other left-leaning militants reportedly belonging to the Dario Santillan Front and Barrios de Pie groups have interrupted vehicular traffic in the vicinity of the Avenida Corrientes and Callao area in central Buenos Aires. Imagery circulating on social media shows a strong security presence monitoring the protests that will reportedly last until 1200hrs (1500 UTC).
Those in Buenos Aires should avoid the vicinity of the rally in the immediate term; clients are advised to avoid any political protests or demonstrations due to the risk of exposure to incidental violence, opportunistic crime and a heavy-handed police response. Travellers should monitor local media sources to remain apprised of road closures and other security measures associated with the demonstrations.
