02/15/2018 (Afghanistan) - According to local media reports on Thursday, 15 February, over 1,000 Taliban militiamen attempted to take control of the security apparatus in Qaisar District on the evening of the 13 February. Further reports indicate that four policeman and 23 insurgents were killed during the attack. However, the region was kept within the control of the Afghan National Police (ANP).

Afghanistan remains a high-risk operational environment, and deployments should only be undertaken with the strictest possible security procedures and journey management protocols in place. Travellers should remain extremely vigilant and be aware of the high risk of suicide and roadside IED attacks. Clients should use a vetted security provider that offers close protection and emergency response services and be aware that foreigners, along with local and international military installations and personnel, present opportune targets for militants.
