02/14/2018 (Nigeria) - According to local media sources on Wednesday, 14 February, at least 12 people were killed and 14 others are believed to be missing following an attack by farmers against a Fulani community in the Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State. It is indicated that the Abu Gaga village near Bokere was assaulted in what is believed to be a retaliatory attack after a farmer was found dead at the weekend. It is further reported that a number of cattle were killed in the attack.

Given the heightened tensions and an increased threat of intercommunal violence and banditry at this time, those in Oyo state are advised to remain extremely vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to security forces. Operationally-critical travel in rural areas should be conducted following a comprehensive localised threat assessment. Travellers should regularly review security management protocols to ensure that they remain commensurate with the evolving local threat environment.
