Multiple Killed after Second Explosion in Suspected Attack in Oruro, Cercado Province

02/14/2018 (Bolivia) - According to local media sources on Wednesday, 14 February, at least two people have been killed and a number injured after an explosion in the city of Oruro, Cercado province. The explosion took place between Backovich and Caro streets, one block from the site of a fatal gas bottle explosion that killed eight on Saturday. The cause of this latest explosion is currently unclear, with unconfirmed reports that explosives were thrown by unknown men in vehicles; the governor of Oruro, Victor Vasquez, ruled out a gas leak and police are reportedly searching for two suspicious vehicles.

Those in Oruro are advised to avoid the vicinity of the incident due to ongoing emergency operations. Heed all directives by security forces and report any suspicious objects. Travellers should monitor local media sources for any further information on the incident and associated travel disruptions.
