Indigenous Community Members Vandalise Police Cars following Murder in Jacareacanga, Para State

02/14/2018 (Brazil) - According to local media outlets on Wednesday, 14 February, members of the Munduruku tribe have protested in the vicinity of the police station in Jacareacanga, Para state. Reports indicate that a number of the indigenous community set at least four police vehicles on fire during the protests. Sources state that the indigenous group began to mobilise following the recent murder of a member of the community who was stabbed to death in the vicinity of Jacareacanga. State authorities have reportedly deployed extra-police personnel from the city of Belem into the area.
