Security Personnel Killed in IED Blast in Tebessa Province

02/14/2018 (Algeria) - According to incoming unconfirmed social media reports on Wednesday, 14 February, at least five soldiers were killed and several others injured following an improvised explosive device (IED) blast south of Tebessa, Tebessa Province. It is indicated that the soldiers were patrolling the area when the device detonated. It is currently unclear who was behind the blast.

Those in Algeria are advised to monitor local media sources for further updates on security operations in the Tebessa province. Travellers outside of major cities in Algeria should liaise with local authorities to remain apprised of the security situation in their specific area of operations and reconsider travel to areas with active security operations.
