Militants Attack Police Force Camp in Karan Nagar Area of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir State

02/13/2018 (India) - According to local media on Monday, 12 February, militants from the Lashkar-e-Taiba group attacked a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in the Karan Nagar area of Srinagar. The attack was thwarted after sentries spotted and engaged the militants on approach; one policeman was reportedly killed in the action. There are reports of traffic diversions in the city centre and mobile internet services have been reportedly disrupted by authorities due to the ongoing operations.

Clients in Srinagar should avoid the vicinity of the Karan Nagar area due to ongoing security operations. Operationally critical travel in Jammu and Kashmir state should be undertaken after a thorough risk assessment and with security measures commensurate with the current threat environment.
