02/13/2018 (Serbia) - According to the US Embassy in Belgrade, a demonstration is scheduled to take place in Belgrade on Saturday, 17 February. The event has been organised by the 1389 Movement, a far-right Serbian nationalist group. Protesters will gather at Republic Square in Belgrade at 1800hrs (1700 UTC) to mark the 10th anniversary of Kosovo's independence. Further spontaneous protests may also occur in other city centres throughout Serbia.

Clients in Belgrade are advised to remain well clear of Republic Square during the planned demonstration due to the risk of exposure to incidental violence and heavy-handed crowd control operations. If a planned or spontaneous protest or gathering occurs in a client's area of operations, travellers should seek to vacate the area immediately. Travellers are further advised to monitor local media sources for updates on the event and any associated travel disruption.
