Tanker Fire Causes Traffic Disruption in Salt Lake County, Utah

01/19/2018 (United States) - According to local media sources on Friday, 19 January, a tanker carrying petrol has exploded and set ablaze a part of the Interstate 15 Highway in Salt Lake County, Utah. Reports indicate that the Interstate 15 has been closed in both directions for an undetermined amount of time. Local emergency services have arrived at the scene. It is not yet clear whether there have been any fatalities or injuries.

Clients in Salt Lake County are advised to remain clear of the affected area in the immediate term. Those in the surrounding area are advised to remain indoors, keeping windows and doors closed in order to limit exposure to harmful fumes. Travellers should anticipate road closures and localised delays as a result of emergency response operations and should seek alternative routes where possible. Travellers should heed any directives issued by local authorities.
