01/18/2018 (India) - According to local media reports on Thursday, 18 January, taxi drivers in Goa are planning to observe a strike on Friday, 19 January. The strike is expected to affect tourist hotspots, as well as travel hubs such as the airport, railway stations and bus stations. Taxi drivers are protesting the planned installation of speed governors in their vehicles. The strike is being held in spite of government claims that it is illegal.

Those using taxis and public transport in Goa are advised to review journey plans in light of the industrial action and resultant travel disruption. Given the possibility of associated unrest, clients are advised to avoid the vicinity of large rallies or demonstrations in order to limit exposure to unruly crowd behaviour, opportunistic crime, and heavy-handed police response operations.
