Many Killed in Bus Crash in Aktobe Region: Delays Likely

01/18/2018 (Kazakhstan) - According to international media sources on Thursday, 18 January, a bus in Irgiz caught fire killing at least 52, whilst five others managed to escape and were treated by emergency personnel at the scene. It is not known how the bus caught fire whilst travelling along the Samara Shymkent Route at around 1030 hours (0430 UTC).

Clients in the aforementioned area should remain alert when travelling in the region as road infrastructure in the country is largely in need of repair. Drivers are reportedly poorly trained and many drivers do not follow traffic laws. In addition, personnel with travel plans involving the route should expect potential residual delays.
