01/17/2018 (Afghanistan) - According to national media sources on Wednesday, 17 January, at least seven Taliban militants were killed after attacking checkpoints in Ghazni province, police claimed. It is understood the clashes started during the early hours in the morning and lasted several hours. Nine others were wounded, however, no information was provided as to whether there were casualties amongst the security forces.

Due to the Taliban presence and ongoing security operations, travel in the province should be limited to operationally-critical deployments. Those in the province are advised to operate under the strictest possible security risk management measures in coordination with local authorities and a trusted security provider. Security procedures should be regularly reviewed and updated so as to remain commensurate to the local threat environment.
