01/17/2018 (Ecuador) - According to the Ecuadorian Geographic Institute on Wednesday, 17 January, increased seismic activity near the Sierra Negra Volcano indicated the possibility of an eruption in the near future. However, due to the very nature of volcanoes, no exact prediction can be offered when an eruption will occur.

Those on Isabela Island are advised to familiarise themselves with local emergency protocols and heed any directives issued by authorities, including evacuation orders. Clients operating within the area are advised to closely monitor developments through local media as ash produced by volcanic eruptions can disrupt air travel within the region.
