01/17/2018 (Australia) - According to local media sources the Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) has announced that it's members will hold a strike on Monday, 29 January. Union representatives have announced that the strike will be held due to the inability to negotiate "a fair and reasonable enterprise agreement" with local train companies. Local transport authorities have stated that the strike will "shut down the city". The previous week a shortage of train drivers has caused multi-hour delays across Sydney's rail network. The strike will be held from 1201 local time (0101 UTC) on Monday for an indefinite time.

Travellers are advised to revise journey plans accordingly in order to minimise disruption and impact on business continuity. Clients should also be aware of a surge in demand for alternative means of transport on the aforementioned dates. Personnel are advised to monitor local media sources for further information concerning the planned strikes.
