Multiple Killed in Gas Explosion in Badagry, Lagos

01/16/2018 (Nigeria) - Local media sources from Monday, 15 January report that a gas explosion in Badagry, Lagos has killed at least four and left several others with severe burns. The explosion is reported to have been caused by a leaking gas cylinder in the Ajara area of Badagry. A number of building and cars are reported to have been destroyed. Security forces have reportedly extinguished the blaze. The explosion is the second to have affected the Lagos area on Monday, with another gas explosion reported at a service station in Magodo.

Clients in Lagos are advised to remain well clear of the Badagry area and closely monitor local sources for further updates. Those in the vicinity of the site should remain indoors as toxic fumes are likely to result from the blast. Travel disruption may occur in the vicinity of the explosion as a result of emergency operations.
