01/16/2018 (Benin) - According to local media sources on Tuesday, 16 January, a number of sectors are expected to take part in a strike beginning today. Unions covering the education, public administration, and justice sectors are planning to walk out for 72 hours. Street protests and demonstrations are possible during this strike action.
Travellers are advised to expect disruption to public services during the strike period. Travellers should also be aware of the possibility of unrest and should therefore avoid the vicinity of large crowds and demonstrations, as protests intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. Furthermore, clients are advised to heed any directives issued by authorities and monitor local media sources for related updates.
