01/16/2018 (Spain) - According to emerging social media feeds on Tuesday, 16 January, National Police and Guardia Civil unions have called for large-scale demonstrations in central Barcelona on 20 January. Protests will start in the vicinity of Plaza Urquinaona at 1200hrs (1100 UTC). Demonstrations will come in demand for higher salaries.
Those in Barcelona should monitor local media sources to remain apprised of any further protests connected with the issue. Travellers are advised to minimise time spent in the vicinity of all demonstrations in the country due to the risk of exposure to potential crowd disturbances and incidental violence.
