Spanish National dies in Zip Wire Accident near Cuzco Highlighting the Risks of Uncertified Adventure Tourist Attractions

01/15/2018 (Peru) - According to local media sources on Monday, 15 January, a Spanish national recently died in a zip wire accident in the Sacred Valley near Cuzco. Sources indicate that two tourist guides hid her body and ditch it in a nearby river days after the accident. Police spokespeople have stated that the two guides have been arrested. The victim was reportedly backpacking through the region.
Travellers in the region are advised to check that tourist attractions have all due security certificates in place and that all their installations and equipment are up to a high standard. Those in the region should remain highly vigilant an report any suspicious business or attraction to the local authorities.
