Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device Blast Reportedly Targets Hamas Official in Sidon, South Governorate

01/14/2018 (Lebanon) - According to regional media outlets on Sunday, 14 January, at least one person was injured following a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) blast in the South Governorate city of Sidon. It is indicated the target of the attack was an official from the Hamas militant group. The site of the blast has reportedly been cordoned off by security personnel.

Due to the elevated threat from terrorism, clients in Lebanon are advised to maintain a heightened level of vigilance, heed any directives issued by authorities, and report any suspicious items or activity immediately. Travellers should anticipate transport disruptions in the vicinity of the incident scene whilst security operations are underway.
