01/14/2018 (Somalia) - According to emerging and unconfirmed reports from social media sources on Sunday, 14 January, at least three government soldiers have been killed and four wounded after a military convoy hit a land mine on Warshadaha road in the Daynile district of Banaadir region, on the outskirts of Mogadishu. Initial reports suggest that the convoy was targeted by Al Shabaab militants. Further updates on the incident are awaited.

Those in the region are advised to avoid Daynile district in the immediate term due to the ongoing security operations and should monitor local media sources for further updates on the incident. Travellers are reminded that Somalia is considered an extreme risk operational environment and, as such, all travel should be undertaken with the strictest possible risk management protocols in place. Clients should ensure that personnel and site security measures are continuously reviewed so as to remain commensurate with the prevailing local threat environment. All operationally-critical movement outside of secure compounds should be conducted in coordination with a reputable security provider and local authorities.
