01/14/2018 (Burkina Faso) - According to emerging social media feeds on Saturday, 13 January, locals have planned a protest march in Djibo, Soum Province. The protest will mark the 2nd anniversary of the abduction of an Australian national by militants of the Al-Qaeda affiliated Jama'a Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Muslimin' (JNIM).

Travellers are advised to minimise time spent in the vicinity of all demonstrations and political gatherings in Burkina Faso due to the risk of exposure to potential crowd disturbances and incidental violence.
