Israeli Air Strikes Target Hamas; Increased Security Expected at Checkpoints

01/14/2018 (Palestinian Territories/ West Bank and Gaza Strip) - According to incoming unconfirmed social media reports on Sunday, 14 January, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) has carried out an airstrike in the Khan Younis governorate in the southern part of the Gaza strip. Sources state that the IAF targeted a military compound belonging to the Hamas group, there were no reports on any casualties being caused by the attack.

Travellers are advised to avoid all non-essential movement in the vicinity of the Gaza border in order to mitigate the risk of exposure to cross-border violence. Those with operationally critical activities near the border should closely monitor the situation and abide by all directives issued by security forces.
