Suspected Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device Injures Three in Shkoder

01/13/2018 (Albania) - According to local media on Saturday, 13 January, there has been an explosion in the Russian district of Shkoder that has injured three people and damaged an apartment building. Initial indications suggest that the explosion occurred due to a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) attached to an off-road vehicle near the apartment building. Emergency services are on-scene and are still investigating the cause of the explosion.

Those within Shkoder are advised to avoid the vicinity of the aforementioned area whilst investigations are ongoing in order to mitigate against delays to overland travel. Clients are further advised to report any suspicious items, persons or activity to security forces immediately. Monitor local media for updates on the situation.
