Political Gatherings Planned Across the Country to Commemorate Peronism

10/17/2017 (Argentina) - According to local media sources, multiple civic groups, unions and other organisations will be celebrating the "Day of Peronist Loyalty" on Wednesday, 18 October. Multiple political acts and gatherings are expected to take to the streets of major urban centres across the country. Thousands of people will celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Peron's comeback to power following a military arrest. Juan Peron was a well known military man and statesman known for combining a particular form of nationalism with proto-socialist policies.

Clients in the country are advised to avoid the vicinity of police offices in the immediate term while tensions remain high. Travellers are advised to avoid all demonstrations and political gatherings due to the risk of exposure to potential crowd disturbances and incidental violence as well as aggressive security forces crowd dispersal operations. Expect localised travel disruption in the vicinity of those locations where celebrations will be held.
