10/17/2017 (Mali) - According to emerging social media feeds on Tuesday, 17 October, at least two suspected jihadi militants of Tunisian origin have been recently arrested by the security forces in Taboye, Gao region. It is indicated that a stash of weapons and a significant amount of money have been seized in the security raid.
Those with operationally-critical travel requirements in the Gao region should first conduct a thorough localised threat assessment and subject all movement to stringent security risk management procedures. Travellers are advised to liaise with security forces and local authorities to identify areas with ongoing security operations in the region. Contingency measures should be continually reviewed and updated so as to remain commensurate to the local threat environment.
