10/17/2017 (Brazil) - According to local media reports on Tuesday, 17 October, multiple indigenous groups recently protested in Manaus, Amazonas state, against the newly appointed Indigenous Foundation President. Sources indicate that indigenous groups demonstrated as the local authorities did not communicate the new appointment to their community leaders.

Those in the area are advised to monitor local media sources to remain apprised of any further planned demonstrations connected with the issue. As a rule, travellers should minimise time spent in the vicinity of all demonstrations and political gatherings in Manaus due to the risk of exposure to potential crowd disturbances and opportunistic crime.
