10/17/2017 (Nigeria) - According to international sources on Tuesday, 17 October, at least six Ta'agbe people were killed by unidentified assailants on Sunday, 15 October. Fulani cattle-rustlers are believed to be behind this attack. In addition, 29 people were killed in a similar attack reported in the vicinity of Nkiedonwhro, Irigwe Chiefdom of the Bassa Local Government Area. These incidents follow recurring attacks in the same area in the last weeks.

Given the heightened tensions and increased threat of intercommunal violence, those in Nigeria are advised to remain extremely vigilant. Operationally-critical travel in rural areas should be conducted following a comprehensive localised threat assessment. Travellers should regularly review security management protocols to ensure that they remain commensurate to the prevailing local threat environment.
