Daily Sit-In Protests in Abuja from 17 October

10/17/2017 (Nigeria) - According to local media sources, a daily sit-in protest will take place in front of the Unity Fountain in Abuja starting on Tuesday, 17 October. It is reported the sit-in will commence at roughly 0900hrs (0800 UTC) each day. The protest are being organised by musician Charly Boy and seek to bring attention to the alleged corruption of the Buhari administration. Previous demonstrations organised by Charly Boy led to clashes with both counter-demonstrators and security personnel.

Clients in Abuja are advised to avoid the vicinity of the sit-in in order to limit the chances of being affected by unruly crowd behaviour and possible security operations. Travellers should monitor local media for any further information regarding the action and heed any directives issued by the authorities.
