Opposition Protest Outside Parliament in Freetown

10/16/2017 (Sierra Leone) - According to local media sources, the Sierra Leone's People's Party (SLPP) opposition group are reportedly holding a rally in central Freetown on Monday, 16 October. Supporters of the group have gathered in front of the Parliament building. The protest is currently reported to be peaceful, but may inflict some disruption to overland travel.

Those in Freetown are advised to monitor local media sources for further updates on the incident and remain appraised of any future protests. Travellers are advised to minimise time spent in the vicinity of all demonstrations and political gatherings in Sierra Leone due to the risk of exposure to potential crowd disturbances, incidental violence, and police crowd dispersal activities.
