Militants Attack Reported Near Balad-Hawo Border Checkpoint

10/16/2017 (Somalia) - Emerging unconfirmed social media reports on Monday, 16 October, indicate that Kenyan forces were the target of a roadside bomb near the Kenyan/Somali border checkpoint at Balad-Hawo. There are no reports of casualties at this time. This attack comes in the conext of a recent boming killing several hundred people in Mogadishu.
Clients in Somalia are advised to adopt strict security measures to minimise exposure to insurgent violence by following all directives issued by local authorities and minimising time spent in the vicinity of security installations.
