10/16/2017 (Italy) - According to reports from local media sources, workers from the air, rail, maritime, and overland transport sectors are expected to observe a general strike beginning at 2100hrs (1900 UTC) on Thursday, 26 October and continuing for the following 24 hours. Metro and train services are the transport methods most likely to be impacted by the strike, though the industrial action is also likely to cause disruption at major airports nationwide. Transport to and from airports and other infrastructure hubs is also likely to be compromised by the strike action.

Travellers are advised to revise journey plans accordingly in order to minimise disruption and impact on business continuity. Clients should also be aware of a surge in demand for alternative means of transport on the aforementioned dates. During the run-up to 26 October and for the duration of the strike, clients should closely monitor local media outlets for updates related to the strike action, including any possible revisions to dates and times. Prior to departure, clients should contact their flight providers to ascertain the status of their flights on 26 and 27 October.
