Ultra-Nationalists Arrested With Arms Cache, Kiev

10/16/2017 (Ukraine) - According to reports from local media outlets on Sunday, 15 October, an unspecified number of affiliates of the nationalist paramilitary Revolutionary Right Forces (RPS) have been detained after being found with a cache of weapons, including long-barrelled rifles, by state security personnel. It is believed that those detained were intending to provoke violent clashes at an upcoming rally expected to be held by supporters of Mikheil Saakashvili in Kiev on Tuesday, 17 October.
Clients in Kiev are reminded that protests and any other political gatherings should be avoided due to the risk of exposure to potential crowd disturbances. Travellers should monitor local media sources for any further information and heed any directives issued by local authorities.
