10/15/2017 (Vietnam) - The Vietnam Disaster Management Authority has confirmed on Sunday, 15 October, that the death toll from flooding and landslides in central and northern regions has increased to 68 people. A tropical depression has caused widespread damage with more than 230,000 livestock killed and thousands of houses damaged.

Travellers in the region should anticipate travel disruption in the medium term due to damaged transport infrastructure and should contact their travel provider prior to departure to ascertain the status of their journeys. Those intending to conduct overland self-travel in the coming days are advised to anticipate possible road blockages and closures and should plan alternative routes where possible. Drivers should exercise a heightened degree of caution in flood-affected areas due to likely hazardous conditions caused by flooding and debris and heed any directives issued.
