Police Seize Explosive-Laden Van in Kabul

10/15/2017 (Afghanistan) - According to local media reports on Sunday, 15 October, Afghan security forces have seized a truck loaded with explosives in the country's capital of Kabul. The truck is thought to have been loaded with plastic explosives and two rockets. It was seized during an on-going police security operation in Kabul. The origins of the van are currently unknown but it is likely the vehicle was to be used in a bombing attack.
Those in Kabul are advised to avoid non-essential travel and monitor local media sources for further updates on the incident and any associated security operations. Travellers should be aware that Afghanistan remains a high-risk operational environment, and deployments should only be undertaken with the strictest possible security procedures and journey management protocols in place.
