10/15/2017 (Pakistan) - Media sources report on Sunday, 15 October, that four Pakistani soldiers have been killed and three injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in the Kurram tribal region. Operations have increased in the area as last week the Pakistani army launched an operation to apprehend five Northern Americans being held by the Taliban. The Kurram Tribal region serves as an area of operations for the Pakistan Taliban due to its proximity to the Afghanistan border.

The border region with Afghanistan remains an extreme-risk operational environment, and deployments should only be undertaken with the strictest possible security procedures and journey management protocols in place. Clients should maintain a low profile and use a vetted security provider that offers close protection and emergency response services. Security at residences and workplaces should be continually reviewed and updated so as to remain commensurate to the local threat environment.
