10/15/2017 (Philippines) - Media sources report that that a two day nationwide strike is set to start on Monday, 16 October. The government has confirmed that due to the strike all classes in public and private schools would be cancelled and all government buildings closed. Transport workers are striking over the government's Public Utility Vehicles (PUV) modernization project.

Travellers in the Manila Metro and major urban centres within the Philippines are advised to plan alternate overland travel arrangements as these are likely the worst affected areas. Clients are advised to avoid all forms of demonstrations due to the risk of exposure to unruly crowd behaviour. Monitor local media sources for further updates.
