10/14/2017 (Palestinian Territories/ West Bank and Gaza Strip) - According to local media reports on Saturday, 14 October, Israeli Security Forces have closed a road outside the Shilo settlement, north of Jerusalem on Route 60 in the West Bank due to the discovery of an improvised explosive device (IED). The reports suggest that the device was previously planted deliberately by the detachment as a pretext to prevent local famers from harvesting their crops. These reports are however unconfirmed.

The right of locals to access land is a controversial issue in the communities in the region and restrictions have drawn widespread criticism from political and community leaders. Those in the area are advised to monitor local media sources for further updates on the situation and to remain apprised of any planned protests. Travellers are advised to report any suspicious items or activity to the authorities.
