10/14/2017 (Syria) - According to local media reports on Saturday, 14 October, around one hundred Islamic State (IS) fighters have surrendered in the group's Syrian stronghold of Raqqa over the last 24 hours. The individuals have since been removed from the city, according to a spokesman for the US-led anti-IS coalition. Backed by US airstrikes, coalition forces have captured sizeable areas of Raqqa from IS since operations in the area began in June.

Those in the region are advised to monitor local media sources for further updates on military developments and heed any directives issued by security forces and local authorities. Those in Syria should continually review crisis management plans and security procedures to ensure they remain commensurate with the current threat environment.
