Kenyan Police Kill Two Protesters, Siaya County

10/14/2017 (Kenya) - According to local media reports on Saturday, 14 October, police in Siaya have shot and killed two opposition protesters who allegedly threw rocks at a police station. The incident occurred in the Odinga stronghold of Siaya County in western Kenya. A statement by the national police spokesman claimed a crowd of about 2,000 people threw rocks at the police station and robbed shops, leading to the shooting, which is being investigated. This demonstration defied a new government ban on opposition protests.
