10/14/2017 (Nigeria) - According to local media reports on Saturday, 14 October, the Nigeria Army has killed three suspected Boko Haram militants in an operation in Borno State. Troops of the 151st Battalion, 21 Brigade were reportedly on patrol when they were engaged by Boko Haram militants along the Bama-BOCOBS road. A hostage, thought to be a young child, was also rescued at the scene.

Those with operationally critical requirements in Borno State and the wider northeast region should conduct a thorough localised threat assessment and ensure that all travel is undertaken in coordination with local security forces and a trusted private security provider. Security and crisis management procedures should be continually reviewed and updated so as to remain commensurate with the local threat environment.
