10/14/2017 (Ghana) - According to reports from local sources on Friday, 13 October, two foreign nationals have been robbed in Labadi, Accra. It is believed that armed criminals travelling on a motorcycle had followed a taxi and threatened its occupants with firearms and bladed weapons once the vehicle had arrived at its destination, near the Labone junction. The incident reportedly occurred at around 2030hrs (UTC). In August US consular authorities warned citizens in-country of increased criminality in Accra, advising travellers to avoid the Avenor, Sowutuom, Sukura, Agbobloshie, and Ashaiman areas of the city due to the elevated risk of exposure to criminal activity.

Travellers in Accra are advised to maintain a low profile and minimise time spent in high crime areas. If driving through areas such as Nima, travellers should ensure that vehicle doors remain locked and windows raised to reduce the risk of carjacking. Any suspicious activity should be immediately reported to police.
