10/13/2017 (South Africa) - According to local media reports on Friday, 13 October, a shootout occurred on Tuesday, 10 October, between the police officers and Vanderbijlpark community members. The outbreak of armed violence occurred during a routine drug search at a residence in the area, after which local residents began assaulting the officers. The assailants are thought to be Nigerian nationals. Local police are now treating the incident as a case of assault and attempted murder.
