Restrictions imposed in areas of Srinagar on 13 October

10/13/2017 (India) - Media sources report that restrictions have been imposed in various areas of Srinagar on Friday, 13 October to prevent protests linked to increased incidents of braid chopping. Police have placed restrictions in Khanyar, Rainawari, Nowhatta, MR Gunj, Safa Kadal, Maisuma and Kralkhud. Reports indicate that schools and colleges have been closed to mitigate against unrest.
Those in Jammu and Kashmir are advised to monitor local media sources to remain apprised of any further militant attacks, protests, security operations or other incidents which could affect personal safety, travel plans and business continuity. Travellers should heed all directives issued by security forces and local authorities and observe any extraordinary security measures that may be in place, including curfews.
