Multiple Fatalities following Jawzjan Clashes

10/13/2017 (Afghanistan) - According to national media reports on Friday, 13 October, at least five Taliban militants have been killed following a security operation by Afghan Forces in Faizabad district in the Northern Jawzjan province. Another four militants were injured as well as three security forces personnel during the four hour clash which started with militants attacking police checkpoints.
Those in Jawzjan province should exercise a heightened level of caution in the immediate term due to the militant activity. Afghanistan remains an extreme-risk operational environment, and deployments should only be undertaken with the strictest possible security procedures and journey management protocols in place.
