10/12/2017 (Sri Lanka) - Media sources report that thousands of commuters are stranded on Thursday, 12 October after strikes continued for the second consecutive day in Colombo. The strikes were launched on Wednesday evening, which brought a wide scale halt to all services. Railway unions are demanding improved working conditions and pay.
In-country personnel are advised to remain abreast of the latest strike-related developments and should anticipate a surge in demand for alternative modes of transportation. Furthermore, contingency measures should be reviewed in light of the planned industrial action and potential impact on business continuity.
