10/12/2017 (Yemen) - Media sources report that at least nine Houthi rebels and one Yemeni army officer have been killed in clashes in Shabwah province on Thursday, 12 October. Reports indicate that the Houthi forces launched a dawn attack on a small town of Asilan, targeting government forces positions. Shabwah province is comprised of 17 districts, 15 of which are currently held by government forces while much of the province's Bihan and parts of Asilan remain under the control of the Houthi forces.

Travel in Shabwah Province should only be conducted under comprehensive security risk management procedures, in conjunction with a reputable security provider. Travellers are advised to minimise the time spent in the vicinity of military and security installations in Aden, as these have been frequent targets for terrorist attacks in the past. Prior to deployment, clients are advised to undertake a localised threat assessment to identify any potential threats to operations and staff safety.
