10/12/2017 (Iraq) - According to national media sources on Thursday, 12 October, at least eight people have been injured following a vehicle-borne improvised explosive (VBIED) in al-Falahat village in Tarmiyah, north of Baghdad. According to the UN, 196 civilians have been killed and 381 others wounded due to the ongoing violence in the country in the month of September.

Those in the district are advised to avoid the area in the immediate term due to the ongoing emergency response operations and risk of secondary attacks. Travellers should monitor local media sources for further updates on the incident. Due to the continuing threat from militant activity, travel north of Baghdad should be coordinated with security forces following a localised threat assessment and undertaken with strict security risk management measures in place, including the use of armed security escorts.
