10/12/2017 (Turkey) - According to reports from local media sources on Wednesday, 11 October, curfews have been imposed in at least 30 Kurdish villages in the south-eastern province of Bitlis. The decision reportedly comes amid ongoing military operations targeting members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

South-eastern Turkey remains a focal point of conflict between government forces and PKK-led insurgents. As such, travel in the region should be subject to a localised risk assessment and undertaken with comprehensive security measures in place. Those with travel plans in the region are advised to liaise with authorities to identify areas with active security operations and ascertain safest travel routes. All extraordinary security measures, such as curfews, should be observed, and travellers should remain cognisant of the potential for security operations to be launched without warning.
